Large Screed Floor
System:
- 3.2km of John Guest Underfloor pipe.
- 3 John Guest Manifolds individually fed via 32mm IVAR PeX pipe.
- 16kWh Single Phase Air to Water Heatpump from Hot Water Heatpumps Ltd.
- Conventional Rib-Raft Slad with 50mm Polystyrene overlay, DPM, 6mm edge insulation & a 40mm self-levelling slurry mix screed. Floor covering was a mock timber ceramic tile in living areas and Carpet in Bedrooms (tiled Bathrooms & Ensuites).
- Controlled via a 9 Zone John Guest Aura control system.
Operation:
- Standard time programmable operation with an achievable setpoint of 22°C Air target in Living Areas, 19 °C in Bedrooms with a Slab limit function set at 28°C.
- Just 28w/m2 - by far the largest floor running on a solitary single phase Heatpump we have done. Considering a 3.8m Stud
height......
Note:
- One of our earliest but by far our largest screed floor systems done in Canterbury. Extreme care and a lot of number crunching was required to calculate the expansion rate of the concrete screed with relation to the structural floor and walls. In some of the larger areas (20m long Hall way) we were expecting up to 4mm+ of expansion by the time we hit 28°C (from the 8°C we poured in) so we elected to use 6mm insulation around the perimeter, this is hidden under the skirting boards, allowing for up to 12mm of thermal expansion or 3x expected.
