Running Costs

Disclaimer: Calculations were based on December 2023 costs and from testing of systems we have installed. Although we have tried to be as accurate as we can these pages must be treated with caution as prices vary, also every system and property has different thermal characteristics therefore this can only be used as a comparative estimate at best.

When considering running costs it is important to understand some of the factors and variables involved before we get to outright price. Here are some key factors and an attempt at benchmarking running costs against each fuel type and type of system

The ambient conditions

The colder it is outside the more energy will be required to heat the space.

The insulation performance of the property

The rate of energy loss from a given environment dictates how much energy needs to be put in. The rate of Energy Loss is usually given as the U-Value of a given product (measured in W/m�K), in the construction industry we tend to use the inverse, called the R-Value which is the resistance to the thermal transmittance (m�K/W) i.e. you want a low U-Value or high R-Value for better insulation.

The usage & occupancy numbers

Typically, Bedrooms need less energy than bathrooms & living areas (for a given size).

Fuel type, energy density, efficiency of the Heatsource

Energy density and cost are not equal across fuel types, nor are the methods of using them, some units are more efficient than others.

The required temperatures

Obviously, if you want the room 24�C you will use more energy than if you want at 17�C
